In vitro fertilization process

1. Register to begin in vitro fertilization process at Jong Medical Clinic or Star International Fertility Center
2. On 2nd day of menstrual cycle, get blood test and injections to trigger ovulation
3. The next follow-up day will be arranged according to blood and ultrasound testing
4. Changes to medication may be made at any time during follow up according to follicle growth
5. When the follicles have reached maturity, drugs to stimulate release will be given and egg retrieval date arranged
6. Under sedation (completely painless) and ultrasound guided, a thin catheter will be inserted into vagina to collect oocyte from uterus
7. Egg retrieval process should take 10-15 min, rest for 30 min afterwards
8. Please have husband collect semen. It can be collected at home (bring to lab within one hour), or we have a special place at our fertility center.
9. The eggs will be mixed with partner’s or donor’s sperms and cultured in the laboratory. The embryologist will monitor the development and the best embryos will be chosen for transfer.
10. After three to five days, come back to fertility center for embryo transfer microscopically into uterus.
11. Any remaining embryos of suitable quality can be frozen for future use.
12. Two weeks later come back to clinic for blood test to check for pregnancy. After another three weeks ultrasound can be used to check if your pregnancy is developing normally within the uterus.

Process for egg recipients

1. Register to become an egg recipient at Star International Fertility Center
2. Have both you and your spouse’s ID card ready
3. Fill in basic data application form and consent form
4. When you receive the certificate from the medical institution, go to the local land affairs office and apply to check for forth degree relatives
5. Turn in the verification form for forth degree relatives to the fertility center and it will be sent to Ministry of Health and Welfare
6. Wait for the donor to sign consent form and bring ID and seal to a notary institution
7. Obtain semen for collection and storage
8. Wait for a matching donor
9. Once the Ministry of Health and Welfare confirms there is no relationship between donor and recipient, they will send a confirmation email. Reply to the email.
10. The donor will begin the egg donation process: follicle stimulation, egg retrieval
11. After three to five days, come to the fertility center to have embryo transfer.
12. Check for pregnancy two weeks later.

Process for sperm recipients

1. Register to become a sperm recipient at Star International Fertility Center
2. Have both you and your spouse’s ID card ready
3. Fill out basic data application form and consent form
4. When you receive the certificate from the medical institution, go to the local land affairs office and apply to check for forth degree relatives
5. Turn in the verification form for forth degree relatives to the fertility center and it will be sent to Ministry of Health and Welfare
6. Wait for the donor to sign consent form and bring ID and seal to a notary institution
7. Wait for a matching donor
8. Once the Ministry of Health and Welfare confirms there is no relationship between donor and recipient, they will send a confirmation email
9. Begin in vitro fertilization process: follicle stimulation, egg retrieval , embryo maturation for three to five days, embryo transfer
10. Check for pregnancy after two weeks
